Morning all, Thought I would pop in before my busy day, Ros is in the shower, then me, Be off about 11.30 to look round the open day. Back in time to freshen up then of to Barby. Only 30 miles away. Leave here about 4.00pm.

No more rain here, but windy and overcast. Hope Jane get a drop. I will tow a few clouds over to her and drop them off. as I pass Kettering.!!!

Perhaps I should take Toby with me tonight, in case we run low on gas !!!!

Hope Ralph, is feeling OK this morning and he has a speedy recovery.

Mel, That light can be a right pain in ther ar##, we have one at the back of the Garage, and everytime the cat or a hedgehog goes passed it comes on, I have set the timer as short as I can, but you still get up to see what it is. It's loverly when it's the hedgehog because the light dosen't bother it.and you get chance to see it.

Morning all
I didn't get on the computer yesterday due to OH having another session at fixing it as he puts it.

I went to dad's care home on Thursday afternoon for his 6 months review and came away feeling a bit upset and angry at the staff from the day centre where dad goes on a Tues & Thurs evening,
Seemingly (Jane will know what I mean) dad's dementia has got worse over the last couple of months , the doctor has taken dad of his dementia medication which he has been on the last 8 years (They think the medication could be causing his agitation and him getting upset)
Dad now seems to get very agitated and aggressive especially in the evenings keeps saying I want to go home , I got to get out of here!! he is shouting and swearing and can only be calmed if he is taken away and is sat down with a member of staff and they sit and chat and go through his photo album and chat over old times and explain he lives at the care home now.
The people at the care home are very good at dealing with him BUT!!! the staff at the day centre find him too hard to handle and they feel it would be better if he doesn't come back.
after some discussion it was decided that dad will continue at the day centre and the staff there will have to learn other ways to deal with this problem It was pointed out that this was just another symptom of dementia and had to be dealt with properly.
I was exhausted by the time I came out and ended up having a slight migraine.
But I am fine now
Hope Ralph is ok and he recovers well.

Fiona, what an afternoon you had.I remember when Mum was in the home in Plymouth ,Social services wanted to move her to a secure home.My sister and I were totally against this ,as was the Manager of the home Mum was in.She was prepared to keep Mum.I requested a meeting with all concerned and so Janice and I went down to Plymouth. We had lots of tears and anger ,but got there in the end.Mum stayed where she was.She was never on any medication for her Dementia.I think she just had aspirin.I hope your Dad settles down again and that he can continue going to the centre.

Mel what lovely pics .It all looks fantastic. All the hard work has really paid off.The photos took ages to come through. My computer seems to be on a go slow at moment .

Morning All,

Had a query about someone on my tree this morning and have been trying to find out more about this person but am getting nowhere fast!!

Glad you liked the pictures. I am afraid they are so large they take a long while to load and download. It's a big Canon camera.

Hope Ralph had a good night and is more comfortable today. Sending good wishes to him.

It has just rained again here as I put mums bedding in the wash!!

Morning All,

Lots of photos now!! lol Sheila yours arrived ok too so now I can put a face to your name.

Mel, I showed OH your pond and he says you are putting us to shame with our slow progress with our small patch. It looks fantastic.

Fiona, I really felt for you with your dad. It can be difficult trying to sort what you know is best. I have a relative with serious mental illness who is really difficult to help and gets very upset about changes which don't seem well thought out. Medication gets changed and the effects are not always seen. You must feel really drained and I know it can be frustrating trying to push through the lack of understanding.....like banging your head on a brick wall at times. No wonder you are exhausted.

Good news about Ralph David. The operation is over and now he can look forward to a better quality of life. I hope he recovers quickly.

Fiona

Fiona Report 7 Aug 2010 12:27

Thanks for your kind understanding. yes life has it's up and downs and especially with dad nothing changes for a while then all of a sudden his condition does change and it hits you, then you slowly get over it. I have now come to accept that he will gradually go further and further into decline and one day will not even know who I am, but until then I keep plodding on doing the best I can for him.

Quite close today ,but not much sun,
OH just got back from cycling so it's time to put on the kettle and make some lunch, going to B&Q this afternoon to get some bathroom flooring for dad's house, Daughter no 2 & boyfriend have finished redecorating the bathroom so it's now the fun time to choose the flooring and window blinds,

Hi someone is there how are you Ann glad your cough is improving did you like my message HIGH it should have been Hi whatever am I doing good sign I am not well. my
message was really bad. I have just gargled with TCP and choked myself will not do that again I swallowed it .What ever happened to blue sky and fluffy white clouds I can remember sitting watching the sky sprawled on the lawn and watched the clouds moving ,big white fluffy ones. Now
the sky is white with dirty big black clouds approaching.
I was looking at the photo that lovely hair and there was me looking like I had just had a fright most of the time because of mum. Have a photo of me in hair rollers and a hair net drying my hair with a old Pifco hairdryer will send it good for a laugh how I suffered with those curls.

Mel enlarged your garden and made a lovely scrapbook
page last night with a photograph of my grannie on it because she loved fairies.I can amagine she would have
loved your fairy in her garden .Gran had a tiny stone in her back yard of a fairy just placed up by the water pipe stuck into the ground. It was not very pretty and rather worn but she used to dig round it and kept it clean. We wondered how it got there.I think fairies are very popular at the moment would love one myself but my husband is not a fairy person. He liked garden gnomes and I had to paint
them for him when they were worn I hated the things. I threw
them out one day and he had a fit. Well off now to storm
the world of Beryl haha

Annx

Annx Report 7 Aug 2010 14:47

What a nice idea Sheila, your grannie would like that. So you are off to see Beryl then..........I bet she'll welcome seeing you and showing you her bruises....the hours don't half drag when you are in hospital. I hope she is mending well.

Jane

Jane Report 7 Aug 2010 15:01

I wonder what funny tales Sheila will have after her visit to Beryl lol
I think Frank must have passed by here now to go to his BBQ,but he forgot to bring me a big rain cloud. There was a huge one just a short distance away,so I think he let it go at someone elses house !!!!!!!.

Shirley,
Chill a tin of Evaporated milk in the fridge ,,then when chilled whisk untill thick .
Make up the jelly with 1/4 pint of boiling water ,then whisk into the milk ,leave to set , you end up with mousse on top and jelly at the bottom.

Is it still hot your way Shirley ? we've had a few showers today .
