Good morning :-)

Thank you for the comments......the music sequence was just like that special scene in Sister Act.....loved that film :-D

The Collect (special prayer) for today ….

Eternal Father, whose Son Jesus Christ ascended
to the throne of heaven. that he might rule over all things as Lord and King:
keep the Church in the unity of the Spirit. and in the bond of peace,
and bring the whole created order to worship at his feet;
who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Gospel reading is taken from the Sermon on the Mount.......where Jesus refers to us as salt and light in the world.

Bless this house reminds me that my parents had a rectangular brass plaque with this verse on it. It hung on the chimney breast on 'Dad's' side of the fireplace.

Thank you Cynthia for your posts with deep meaning and also those about everyday life.
I hope you can obtain all the help you need to help with your husband.

Thinking of you.

Hello all

Bright but very cold this morning. The storm is forecast for tomorrow I think. Stay safe everyone.

Andre Rieu is a favourite of son in law. I liked the beginning, so calming and relaxing. Not keen on the happy clappy that followed though. Much prefer Bless This House which hubby and I would sing together along with the Harry Secombe version on CD.

Hope Vera is well, not seen her posting recently.

Good morning :-)

What better way to end our prayer walk around our homes than with this.......

Bless this house, O Lord we pray
Make it safe by night and day
Bless these walls so firm and stout
Keeping want and trouble out
Bless the roof and chimneys tall
Let thy peace lie overall
Bless this door that it may prove
Ever open,
To joy and love

Bless these windows shining bright
Letting in God's Heavenly light
Bless the hearth, ablazing there
With smoke ascending like a prayer!
Bless the people here within
Keep them pure and free from sin
Bless us all that we may be
Fit O Lord to dwell with thee
Bless us all that one day we may dwell
O Lord! With Thee!

Hello all

Liking the prayers for the different rooms in the home Thank you Cynthia. I do something similar I call "prayer walking" as I go around the streets and pray for my neighbours houses.

I hope all goes well with your meeting today and that you will be given the help needed to bring your hubby back home before too long.

Good morning :-)

I have a meeting today to sort out how many hours I will be allowed for care. Seeing him sitting there so forlornly has been a blow - I want him home as soon as it can be arranged.

On our prayer stroll today, we venture into the living room..

Lord, we pray for this room where we live, relax and entertain. May it be a comfortable place for the family and a place where we welcome friends and strangers. May the love of all who enter here grow and flourish in your name.
Amen.

He will become accustomed to it Cynthia. My Mother in law spent the last three years of her life in a care home. She suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and was immobilized
Unfortunately the . staff didn't give her the care they should and MIL died in hospital
from unnecessary illness. As her SIL who visited her regularly I only saw the care home at its best. Sadly that wasn't always the case.

Good morning :-)

It's amazing how small things can make all the difference.....and we all have a lot to be grateful for. OH is as settled as he can be. I have a meeting tomorrow to see how many hours we will be allowed for home care and then I am having my hair done. I go to see him for a couple of hours each day - it's hard seeing him just sitting there though........ :-(

Moving on...... we continue our prayer walkabout in our homes..

Lord, as I lay my head down to sleep in this room tonight, I ask for your comfort and strength. Ease my mind. Help me to let everything go and leave it all in your hands. Give me peace that I may sleep without tossing and turning. May all loneliness be banished, as I rest in your peace. Amen.

Thank you Vera. Wife was at her GP this morning on a separate issue.
She's had two minor heart attacks in the last two years. She attends
monthly to give a blood sample to the nurse. She also saw her GP who
gave her a prescription for an "infection" vague term (?)
Five years ago she had her worn out knees replaced, big invasive surgery.
She's limping heavily on her RH side. I don't know if it's her hip. I do know
she works harder than some people half her age at a time when she
should be enjoying her retirement.

You’re right David. We all have a lot to be thankful for. A while ago I was reading about some people with mental issues who kept a “gratitude diary”, writing down each day a few things that had made that day worthwhile. I thought it was a good idea. I don’t write anything down but last thing at night I do say a quiet thank you for the good things of the day. They are usually little things like getting the washing dry or finding a book I wanted in the library; sometimes nice things like an unexpected phone call from a distant friend. It’s surprising how much better it makes me feel, even if I have had a grotty day.

I hope your OH has settled in at the home and you are managing to get some rest Cynthia.

Hello and good evening to you all :-D <3
I hope you are well, or your problems are no worse.
I'm aware I've complained about this and that on these threads
over recent years. But, all things considered, looking at the bigger picture
I have survived much that once seemed insurmountable.
With, the benefit of TV, the internet, newspapers and thought
I see myself as fortunate, surviving each day realising that I am
no longer young, and "older" than some who helped me get this far,
yet immature in some ways.
Very fortunate I guess.
THANK GOD.

Continuing the prayer walkabout in our homes....

A prayer for the dining room

Prayer- "Heavenly Father, bless the time we spend together at this dining table. May we encourage one another and not criticize. Please fill our hearts with joy, laughter, and the grace to understand one another."

You have my deepest sympathy Cynthia.
My wife is classified as my carer
and I can see the effect the role is having on her/

Cynthia, as others have said, rest as much as you can. I know the toll it took on my brother when he was a full-time carer for our father who was physically disabled, registered blind and then had dementia, so please accept all the help that is offered to you. You and your OH are in my thoughts <3

I like the idea of a prayer trip around the home. So many posts lately have reminded me of my young days. I have an aunt, only 6 years older than me, who had a lovely voice. At family gatherings everyone performed their party piece and she always sang Bless This House. Happy memories of happy times.

Good morning :-)

The Everyday Faith readings have finished….how about a prayer walk round our homes this week?

God, I thank you for this place where I live. Let this entire house be a place of comfort and peace that always seeks your Son. Please, protect our family in all ways.

A Prayer for the kitchen

Lord, May this kitchen be the heart of our home.
May our home be full of love.
May love be made anew here each day for others to taste and know your blessings.

Amen.

Hello all

You needed the extra sleep Cynthia. I hope your husband is comfortable with his respite care.

Candlemas Service today combined with the Air Training Cadets who brought their new flag into church to be blessed. Really good to have so many youngsters sharing our worship this morning.
