Yes it makes you think Gwyn. My uncle (mums brother) was on the train when the great train robbery took place. He was in the sorting car at the end of the train and they were set free on the track when it was taking place. |

Good morning all a nice dry bright start to the New Year. I am hoping it will last but the forecast says otherwise. |

At 1.16pm we had a hail shower and it made a terrible racket on the plastic roof outside the back door. we've had sun and rainbows and rain and very high wind all day. Poor chicjkens won't come out of their house and the water is running along the side of the chickens run. I have shut them in tonight for hte first time this winter. I had one of the old ones dead this morning so now I only have 4 three black ones and the one ginger one. |

Went out to Cockermouth to the Lakes Home store and bought a toaster. Special price £29.90 Russell Hobbs. It has for once been a dry bright day, blue sky in the morning and a glimmer of sun. |

Goodness, I hope you’re not all turning into insomniacs like me. I’m sorry that you both had a bad night yesterday, Mel and AnnG. I was the same. I turned the light off around midnight and went straight to sleep but was woken at 1 am by the wind gusting round the house and making the security lights come on and off. Then the rain came down. I’ve never heard anything so loud. I think there was some giant out there hurling great buckets of water at the windows. I read for a while and then tried to sleep but couldn’t so I got up at 6 am and prepared all the veg for our dinner, made a plum and apple crumble and did some tidying. OH got up about 7.45 having slept like a log through everything. I did go back to bed soon after 8 am and slept for about 2 hours but I don’t think I’ll be staying up to see the New Year in. |

Good morning all. Dry here so far with a tiny bit of blue sky shan’t get excited though as that is how it has been most days before the rain. Didn’t sleep well last night so a big copy today. BBL |

No Ann been loose for donkeys yonks but they would'nt take it out and now they won't have to so thats two I won't have t o pay for to get out but the one next to the one that fell out is also very loose. I have bone degeneration. The teeth that come out have no filling or damage just a bit of tabacco staining but nothing much. |

Oh dear Mel, was that tooth loose? Did the tooth break off? Maybe you need to see a dentist after New Year. |

Its really wet and very windy here to and the wind seemed to build during the day. The poor chickens are paddling again and not wanting to come out of their house. They hav'nt eaten their breakfast and now it soaking wet I have just given them some corn on top of it and hope they eat it and go to bed with full tummies. |

I have just thought back. I have spent eight of the Christmases since 2014 up here in the Lake District in three different areas and I don’t remember ever in that time such a wetter days as we have had. We have had it cold and snowy but not this constant wet and windy weather. And forecast looks as though it is getting worse next week. |

That does sound dreadful AnnG and there was certainly no need for the manager to be nasty, but government advice is to go to work as usual. There’s no requirement to test or anything. I think there’s a lot of people who have Covid mixing with others. I believe our wonderful government found lockdowns didn’t work so they are now going for herd immunity. But in some cases you simply can’t work, either because you are too ill or because you are working with vulnerable people. Something like Covid would spread like wildfire in a care home and that manager needs her brains tested. |
