Evening All,
Rain and sunshine here today but it's going to get colder tomorrow if they are right.
That's a nice treat with your son and DIL Vera. I hope you enjoy the show and meal. It's good you are much better now after the nasty migraine.
I think I might just grow the short french beans this year as the Cobra climbing ones I grew last year didn't do well in that awful compost I used . They only reached about 4 foot the year before but had quite a few beans.
Mandy have you finished the cat cave and, if so, did it turn out ok? Did you knit the 4 strands of colour together with big needles, or was it stripes of each colour?
Hurrah, you got an appointment at last AnnG! It's a pity it wasn't at the time you requested though. It's a shame Cynth won't be able to take you as well, as that would have been ideal.
You've been busy today Mel. I must get the washer on in the morning. Did you get your meds ok in the end?
My haircut is due next week as well, so I'll feel it if it's still chilly. We had another 30% off voucher for the carvery, so went there for lunch. It was really nice today, but OH managed to drop some of his on his lap, luckily it landed on his napkin and not his smart clothes for going to a meeting later on. Then he managed to get what he dropped in his lap all over his hand and mopping that off managed to nearly knock my glass of water flying. I just caught it before it spilled right over. He looked at me and said 'going out for lunch with me must be like going out for lunch with Mr Bean'. :-D.
OH wasn't laughing when we got home and he opened his post to find a parking ticket for parking at the Marriot Hotel when he went to a business breakfast held by the local council a few days ago. He goes regularly to these meetings, but has never had a problem before, so I suspect it's something new. He asked them at reception whereabouts the meeting was, so they knew he was there for that. I suppose he'll end up paying as you probably have to sign something when you arrive, but no-one said so. He's going to contact the council tomorrow and see if anyone else has been ticketed. You'd think that as they hold their meetings there they would have warned everyone. Another letter said his car needs to go in for an update again. It had two done recently so he needs to check this isn't for one they did before.

Thank you I will see what I can get next time I am in a garden centre.
I now have a hospital appointment for 10 o’clock Monday 25th. I guess they ignored my request for after 1015 so I will have to get there somehow. I know Cynth can’t take me as she has a hair appointment. Will have to get the bus and pay the fare as I have to leave before 0930.

Anng the Safari french beans I just had in a trough and didn't have any canes but the Cobra grew about four foot or so in a long tub but I think we liked the dwarf ones better and had more beans from them .
Not very mild here Mel and we've had some rain .

The ones I grow in a big pot is called Ferrari and they produce nice beans and many of them. I ususally grow about just 5 in a large pot and pop four or five small canes round the pot with some string around to support them. They grow about 2 to 2 and a half foot tall. I like them whne thye are really skinny so get a nice lot.
It will be lovely to see your son after 6 months Vera and so nice to go to a show and have dinner out too. Enjoy it sounds relly good.
Iv'e had sun on and off today and its been quite mild with not much of a breeze even. Done a load of washing and cleaned both pond filters properly and fed the wild birds and chickens and fish. I have just finished doing a load of ironing so think I am giong to corn the big girls and then have a nice COT and a cake.

Ah good to read it eventually I did scroll down but obviously not far enough.
Hope you enjoy the meal and theatre trip with son and DiL, how lovely. But also hope they have safe journeys. Hope by tomorrow that the migraine will have disappeared. Such a nuisance, especially as you don't know what the trigger is.
Mandy, my hair is due cutting next week, I am hoping against hope that the long awaited appointment doesn't come through for the same date.
Mandy or anyone Do you have a recommendation for a reliable not too tall growing French bean?

I don't know what has happened here. I did a post, pressed submit and got the message saying Post Added but there doesn't appear to be anything here except a long empty space. Can't do it all again now and won't be back the rest of the day so I'll have to come back tomorrow and hope GR is functioning a bit better.
Found the post way down at the bottom of this great big space. I'm trying to c&p it here:
Morning all
Yes AnnG, I've read that lack of sleep shortens your life. So like you, I might disappear altogether soon. On the other hand, OH will probably live forever as he can sleep for England. I'm sorry you didn't have such a good night last night. I didn't sleep too badly though I did read for an hour or so in the early hours.
I still have the last knockings of the migraine but I am much better which is just as well as we have a nice outing tonight. It's our Christmas present from son and dil. The plan was that they would drive down to us this morning, take us to a theatre some distance away, bring us back and then stay the night. Now an important board meeting has been arranged for 10 am tomorrow so after bringing us home they are driving all the way back to Yorkshire. Son will grab a few hours sleep if he is lucky before leaving at 8 am to drive to his board meeting. It's a good job dil is happy to do a lot of the driving.
Son rang while I was in the shower and told OH they will be here about 2.15 pm. He said we should only have a light lunch as he has a table booked for 5.30 for a meal near the theatre before the production starts at 7.30 pm. We are going to see a version of The 39 Steps. I gather it is very funny with a cast of 4 playing dozens of different parts and it has been playing in the West End for 10 years. I'm looking forward to a night out that I haven't had to organise and also looking forward to seeing son and dil. We haven't seen them for almost 6 months. I just wish it didn't entail such a lot of driving for them.
It's a beautiful day again - 11 degrees and sunny - perfect for gardening but it will be a day r two before I can bend without getting giddy so I won't be weeding or tidying plants. Anyway I am all showered, hair washed and in clean clothes so I don't want to get dirty. Oh, I've just seen the weather map on the computer and it is telling me that rain is starting in 16 minutes. How can they be that precise?
I still have a bit of cold chicken in the fridge that I must get eaten up so I think I'll go and make us a couple of chicken salad sandwiches.

good morning all, 8 degrees and dry and bright so far. Slept ok until about 4am then didn't really get back to sleep after that so tired again this morning. too much going on in my brain to relax properly. Blessed hospital appointment problems are not helping. Lack of sleep is meant to shorten your life. Mine will disappear soon then :-)

That was a horrid migraine Vera and I hope you feel back to normal tomorrow. Shame you missed the meeting but better to be safe than sorry.
I have done a little painting this morning and some HW and this afternoon after corning the chickens I had a good hour in the garden just off the patio cutting down the clematis that should have been cut down in February and pulled up all the old fronds from a fern that grows the other side of the steps. I noticed my summer snowflake are flowering in a tub out the front and I thought I had dug them all out a couple of years ago but they must have seeded and I had'nt noticed. The little blue Scilla are out too in the end tub just as the daffs are finishing. The forsythia up the south facing was is in flower and the magnolia stellata and the other thing on the lawn that smells of almonds it in flower and the camelia the other side of the roads in bloom so some colour coming back in the garden now but I MUST clear the sides of the road. Its full of weeds and grass and there's even a budlia growing out of the brick wall round the west lawn and I cut it right back before the winter thinking it would die.

Afternoon all
It sounds as though you have been busy today Mandy. Enjoy your roast tonight.
I hope your U3A meeting goes well AnnG. I keep looking at our local U3A to see if there’s a group we might join but I haven’t found the right group for us yet. I’ll carry on looking from time to time as new groups do start up. Fingers crossed that your appointment will be through soon.
You do make me smile Annx. I can just imagine your poor OH scrambling into his joggers and probably falling over his own feet in the process.
Your mention of Lydford Gorge brought back a memory from many years ago Mel. OH and I watched a kingfisher catching his dinner there. It was one of those rare magic moments when no-one else was around and we hardly dared breathe in case the kingfisher flew away.
Well, I didn’t get to our club meeting on Monday. I had felt “iffy” all day. We had an early meal and sat down with a cuppa in front of the 6 pm news. Suddenly the TV went all fuzzy and I couldn’t see properly, then the nausea and pain of a migraine hit. I couldn’t even walk across the room without staggering so there was no way I could go out. OH wasn’t happy about leaving me but as we had the raffle prizes, milk and biscuits he had to go. Thankfully one of the ladies sorted the teas with him. I didn’t start feeling better till early evening yesterday but I’m on the mend now. I just feel drained and droopy.
I’m still finding looking at a screen difficult so I’m closing the computer down for the rest of today.

Well there was a message on my answer phone but it was from the dentist. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks and the call was to say dentist won't be there that day and to phone for a changed appintment. so I phone, get some man who says somebody will answer directly, then get another man who says all administrators are busy (they only have two receptionists!!) and to leave name and number and they will get back to me. we could go on like that all day as, if they come back it will be on the answer phone. so I just put the phone sown. I will have to call round there.

Afternoon all,
We've had a little rain and sunshine today now its dry but the clouds are so black so I think we're in more rain . Had a good morning doing inside jobs ,I'm doing a roast tonight so I got the veg all done early ,cleaned the bathroom and had a good hoover through . I just had a cuppa soup for lunch as we're having a roast and I usually finish off with some fruit after lunch so today I had a few grapes and a small Nordecott orange ,every segment had pips in and in the end I was counting them ,I ended up with 23 pips :-0 I've never had so many pips in an orange .
Hopefully you'll have a message on your answer phone when you get home Anng I'll keep my fingers crossed for you .
Oh thanks for the reminder about Canon Hall Farm Ann we like watching the two brothers on the farm ,I like seeing the Greens too they do so well with all animals they have , it amused me the time she did a Christmas cake she had been adding all sorts into it .
