Morning all on this dull and dingy wet day of 12 degrees and pc says partly sunny but I would like to kow when please.

Got up at 6.13 for the loo and went back to bed and woke at 10.02. Must get on today as I need to wash my hair and do some more HW to keep myself busy as I have the foot doctor tomorrow and the dentist on Monday.

I hate ringing the bank as they always say press this for that and carry on so fast I usually miss the one I want. It happened today I had a phone call on my mobile to say someone had tried to take 700 pounds out and 900 so I got on to the bank straight away. That call told me to press one but by the time I got the numbers pad up on my phone they had gone so I rang A Nat West and spoke to a lovely man called Harry who took a look and said everything was ok. Then I had to log in and have a look for myself. I think it was because I paid for oil and the leccy bill and council tax so I was happy that everything was ok.

Is'nt it always the same when you get the car wshed or do it yourself the next time you go out it has rained and the roads are all mucky hence so is the car. £10 is a good price to have the car washed anyway its a lot more around here and the only place I have ever had it done is at Homeleigh garden centre. That was years ago so I dread to think what it is now. They used to do inside and out for £20.

I had'nt realised what the time is so I better make a start on my cauliflower cheese while the cauli is still nice and fresh. I had some of it last night just boiled but have been fancying a cauli cheese and don't often buy one so I am going to enjoy it.

Annx Report 3 Apr 2024 17:46

Afternoon All,

The two exhibitions sounded good AnnG. I think some of those photographers must have the huge, heavy zoom lenses to get such clear shots. Far heavier than I would be prepared to carry! I intended to go and see Fitz's great aunt's collection of porcelain and faberge but have never got round to it. That Peacock butterfly is out early isn't it. I never saw any here last year either.

Vera thank goodness you didn't have both of the two warring members at your meeting. I see you are getting booked up with a few events to look forward to which is good. It sounds like you got on a lot better today. Yes I have to smile myself at the 'blind man'. It reminds me of an old joke OH used to tell about the nun in the bath, when someone knocked at the bathroom door door to say a blind man was there to see her and she said it would be ok to let him in. He's coming tomorrow after 12.00pm. OH pulled a face when I reminded him, as he was planning for us to go out for lunch!

Hurrah Mandy! You have your tablets now and hopefully the extra dosage will soon give you a boost and make you feel a lot better. We enjoy those kinds of pies and add some veg too! :-)

Mel it always surprised me when I lived on my own how mucky the place would be when I hoovered and dusted. You'd think there wouldn't be much cleaning to do with just one of you but there is!

I slept quite well but it was a drag getting up to shower and be at the garden centre for when it opened to be sure of getting a parking space close to the entrance. It's one of those garden centres where they make you walk miles round every inch of it to get to the exit, so a bit less walking by parking near the door is necessary for me. I haven't really worked out why, but there is always a community police officer standing where you walk in and he's been there over a year now. OH reckons there might have been trouble from the travellers' site which is at the back and hidden by trees, but we don't really know. I got a refund on the nighties as they weren't quite right and things are so expensive and still increasing I'm less prepared to make do with something now. I'll see what they have in the factory shop next. It was lovely sunshine this morning, so on the way back after calling for a newspaper I drove to the carwash to see if it was busy. No-one there so I got my car washed. I was a bit miffed that they charged me for a medium car instead of small this time and that the price had gone up to £10. It's a low car with a glass roof so less to wash than most cars and only 2 doors to wipe around the insides of. Still they do good job and it looks much better........even if it did start raining as I drove the mile home. :-S

I had a simple general question to ask my bank so I phoned them at my nearest branch. None of the phone options to press fitted the bill so I just pressed one of them. The person who answered told me he was too busy dealing with customers to deal with me at the moment and gave me the head office number. I rang that, but again none of the options were for a general enquiry and as soon as I chose one it not only wanted a card number being entered but also my phonebank code etc. all for a simple query that needed a yes or no!. In the past I would have gone to the branch in the next village, but the nearest one now is half an hour's drive away and the nearest carpark is a good 15 minute walk away and you have to pay and display. So I tried the website which was no help at all, but up popped a screen saying would I give feedback as they wanted to ensure and were always looking at customer service and satisfaction! Perfect, so I told them! It's the time these things take as well isn't it.

Yes the exhibition did sound good and all about wildlife in both. They married those up well to be on together. Interesting for anybody I should think.

Glad you have your pills at last and it was lucky about the ear spray. Did they have more than one onthe shelf? so you could buy two? If something is going out of stock like my rubber gloves I use and used to buy in Mole Valley I buy whatever I can. I bought 22 pairs when they discontinued them at half price. I'm still using them and I have had them years and still 8 pairs left.

Not done the door yet as I had'nt realised what the time was and had to take a pill and get some lunch. After eating a ham sandwich I thought I would have one of the Belgian buns I bought. Ate it and thought it was'nt very fresh so looked on the packet, as they come in twos, and it was dated 2nd April the day they delivered it. After that I looked at the cherry pie I bought and blow me down the date on that is for today!!!! I have asked for a refund but don't think I will get it as I complained about a dried up looking cherry pie the last time I ordered one.

Enough of my troubles with my shopping, thats when I miss going to the shops at least you can see what you are buying and pick the best date or not buy it if the date is short. By the amount of shopping I have you would think they would know that there is only one person in the house. Last week I ordered choclate eclairs and two of those were upside down so stuck to the packing and the week before I order two packs of two to take round to Em's for them and one in one box was upside down and the other box one was on its side so they did'nt look good enough to take round.

Another changeable day with spells of sunshine and rain. Some of the rain has been quite heavy and there is still a chilly wind but when the sun's out and the wind drops it gets quite warm. It makes it hard to know what to wear if you go out.

I hope you've enjoyed lunch and the photographic exhibition AnnG.

You've had a busy h/w day Mel. You might need to rest your aching hips and back tomorrow.

I'm glad you got your tabs Mandy. Let's hope they start to work quickly so you soon begin to feel a bit better. It's horrid when you feel all woozy.

I hope you get your blinds sorted Annx. I wondered what was wrong when you said you had to call the blind people - I imagined you had to ring the RNIB or someone similar. I'm very relieved that it is a different sort of blind.

I didn't sleep all that well last night but I feel OK today so what sleep I did get must have been good quality. It's been a less frustrating day today as well. I sorted out a Sainsbury order for delivery on Friday, rang the pharmacy at our main surgery and was number 1 in the queue and my call was answered straightaway, and the theatre website accepted my email and password as normal. I booked tickets for 2 films, one in May and 1 in June, and for a one-woman show in June. They sound a little way off but our local theatre only holds about 150 and most things are only on for 1 or 2 performances so they sell out quickly.

I also managed to get half an hour in the garden in between the rain. We have a strip alongside our garage which faces our neighbours. We can't see it unless we are walking or driving down the road but OH planted it up 3 or 4 years ago to brighten a dreary spot up a bit. I just cut a couple of shrubs back to new growth and it's surprising how much tidier it looks.

Oh, I've just remembered to tell you - Ladies Club was OK last night. We had someone come from Strollersize which is apparently an easy way of keeping fit. She demonstrated and anyone who wanted to do so joined in. We all decided it was line dancing under another name but she wasn't happy when someone said that. I don't think she got any new recruits for her classes. As for the teas, it worked out OK as one of the arguing ladies has got Covid so couldn't come anyway. I feel sorry for her but it did make life in the kitchen a little easier for me.

I put some towels and similar stuff in the machine for a longer, hotter wash than I do for most things and I should think they are ready to go in the dryer now so I'm off to sort those out and then it will be time for a cuppa.

That was a good Exhibition and a nice lunch. I had jacket potato with prawns and salad for lunch. There were two exhibitions running at once. Wildlife photographer of the year. some fantastic photos. The patience it must involve to get some of the photos. And also the focusing to get them so sharp.
The other exhibition was Royal Copenhagen Porcelain. established in 18th century and still in production they produced all sorts but this was just animals and birds and some of it was beautiful I particularly liked a very large Snowy Owl. All the pieces are made and painted by hand. Got home about 2.30pm left here at 12 so a nice break, it is only 10 minutes from here by car.

Afternoon all,

Overcast and we've just had a little rain but we got the shopping done while it was dry ,on the way to Aldi I managed to park in the town and get into Boots for my tablets ,I still had to wait while they did them but at least I now have them ,the dosage is a lot more than the ones dil got me from off the shelf ,I have to take two vitamin d once a week for seven weeks and the iron tablets one a day for three months, they said that the ear spray was discontinued so I would have to go back to the doctor but then she said hold on they might have some left on over the counter and luckily they had .
Now I feel so tired so I'm going to have a rest for the rest of the day ,our meal tonight is nice and easy as its ready made chicken, leek and bacon pies with lots of veg .

Poor you Vera I hope you get on ok this evening.

Not done much at all today once again after putting the shopping away and washing up. Did a little varnishing of the bottoms of the thing I painted the other day and started making another little white cap for a Tudor doll. I am going to make Emlin a friend.

SuffolkVera Report 2 Apr 2024 17:56

I’ve had a really frustrating day. Everything I have tried to do seems to have either gone wrong or taken twice as long as usual. Even the computer had a mad moment and would not work properly. OH couldn’t fix it or turn it off so he had to unplug the whole thing and try again later. It seems OK at the moment. Then I tried to book a couple of things at our local theatre but I couldn’t because it wouldn’t accept my password or email address even though I’ve been a member there for years.

Now the final straw is that I am apparently doing the teas tonight with two ladies who have argued and are currently not speaking to each other. I think I’ll shut myself in the kitchen with the washing up and keep out of their way.

Well, tomorrow’s a new day and things can only get better :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Apr 2024 16:14

You've all been busy and all I have done is feed the chickens and a bit of sewing and put the shopping away.

I have a small sink in the little loo and can still manage a cats lick and a promiss in that as I used to do as so oh could use te big bathroom if he needed to plus the fact that the hot water reaches that before the bathroom. I have to run sooooo much water just to get the hot to come through. My aunty Joy dos'nt put her water heater on and says she boils a kettle to wash up or have a wash. She has electric storage heaters. Mind you she is one of those people who can't stay indoors longer than she has to she has to be out doing something.

AnninGlos Report 2 Apr 2024 15:44

Well I nipped out before I had lunch and weeded a bit of one of the lower beds in the back garden so that was another half hour's work. And this afternoon when I put the garden bin out I stopped for about an hour and weeded the front garden so the bin is really full now.

I am out to lunch and the photographic exhibition tomorrow so no gardening then so I am pleased I have got so much done the last couple of days.

Lol Mel I hope I don't need a lorry liad of tablets :-D

Nice and sunny here I just got my washing in and it was mostly dry but I didn't like the look of the black clouds now looming.

I read somewhere that Rev Richard Cole books were good Ann I shall have to have a look for them , our Works is closing in May, its such a shame its not because its losing money but because the lease was up and was going to be more money so they would rather have an empty shop than let them carry on ,we have empty shops now and if they do fill them it's charity shops ,hairdressers estate agents or takeaways, the Halifax and Barclays bank has closed and Lloyd's bank was mentioned too so that might be next .
The Richard Osman books are suppose to be good too.

I wonder if there's any smell from those lorries that run on the veg oil ,they must have their own pump where they store the lorries.
