Evening All,

Belated congratulations to David and Ellin on your 30th yesterday. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

I'm not too keen on statues as a rule as they seem to stare at you, but those fairy ones are very tasteful Mel and very detailed. They look quite big too.....hope you could get it in your car! I was the same with dolls ........always felt they were looking at me!! As a child, everything had to face away from me when I was in bed!! lol I inherited a victorian stuffed barn owl from my grandad when I was about 14 and put it in my bedroom........same thing, I couldn't sleep while I could see it's black beady eyes on me.......out it went to another room.

Sheila, I didn't actually work in Birmingham, I went to training courses there at times. As a civil servant, we had training in different places as people had to gather from all over the country. Most of mine were in Newcastle.

My gran always had a ragbag and button box. As a little girl I used to make doll's clothes out of them. She also kept old cotton reels and balls of wool for me to knit or do french knitting with.

Hope all goes well with having your cyst removed tomorrow. It will be good to have got rid of it. BTW a baby boomer is someone born in the early years after WW2.

Elizabeth,I remember saying to my parents when we fell out .."why can't I go to boarding School" lol.I think I had been reading Mallory Towers and thought boarding school was so exciting.
Mt friend Fitz was sent to boarding school at a very young age as was his brother. He hated being away from home ,and has told me of some awful things that happened to him there.
I was a Nanny back in the 70's and the children were sent off at the age of about 8.When I went to work for the family the 2 eldest were already away ,and the 2 younger ones went to a Private school .They were taken there by Chauffeur (called Billy),he wore a hat and uniform.I would drive to collect them in the afternoons.
Was your school in Devon?

I enjoyed WDYTYA with Bruce Forsyth Fiona. What a strange tale and where did that man's money go?? It was a nice gesture for Bruce to arrange a memorial detailing the good work he was responsible for.

Speaking of tv I have been watching The Private Lives Of..... series and they did chickens last week. I was so amazed to see a chicken wolfing down a mouse!!!

We went to a LINK meeting this morning. The county council were giving a talk on their plans regarding the provision of services over the next 3 years including social care and libraries. It was very interesting to hear different people's viewpoints and hear how things are going to change. There was a very nice buffet lunch!!!

Evening all,
Sheila ,good luck with your appointment tomorrow i hope all goes ok for you .
Shirley, glad OG got on ok too at his appointment with the doctor .

What a day ,when i was out in the garden ,my next door neighbour put her head over the fence and asked if i'd keep a look out for one of her cats ,it hadn't been home all night ,i said i wondered if it had got in the shed so i opened the door and she gave it a call.......nothing .
So i shut the door and went shopping ,when i came home i went to put some things in the freezer and Toby followed me in and he started pawing and sniffing like mad ,so i called next door to come round and look in case it was the cat ......he moved some things and called out .....nothing
I thought that cat is in there Toby doesn't go mad like that over nothing ...so she came round from next door and called puss .........we heard Meoooww there she was tucked behind some board !!!! frightened to death because of the dog !!!!
They bought me a lovely bunch of flowers round for finding the cat ,it wasn't me it was good old Toby !!!

Mel, i think the Fairies are beautiful ,they will look good round your pond ,i love them all .

Oh poor cat Mandy.Good old Toby.He needs an extra big bone for his good work lol.

Annx

Annx Report 20 Jul 2010 19:59

Good old Toby, Mandy. Like you say he knew the cat was there. It's funny how cats don't always miaow or come when you call them. Our neighbour's cat often used to come in our house and one morning I was going out for the day, knew the cat had come in that morning so went to check it wasn't still inside. I looked in all the rooms, shouting 'Ellie' as I went.....nothing. I locked up and off I went. OH arrived home about 6.00pm and was greeted by a very vocal crosslegged pussycat who was desperate to get out!! lol

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Jul 2010 20:12

I made a big fuss of Toby ,he knew the cat was there ,and i think he still thinks the cat is in there as he keeps going in the shed and sniffing ,i just hope she hasn't left a calling card as that can really smell !!!!!

Its been really warm here today ,i seem to have been on the go all day but i don't seem to have done anything if you know what i mean !!

The family came round for a dip ,the little ones went in the Spa and son went in the pool , while he was in he gave it a bit of a hoover out .

Been back on the iced coffee again today ,also bought a bottle of Cream Soda .

Annx

Annx Report 20 Jul 2010 21:04

My OH loves Cream Soda Mandy......he's got through a lot of it recently. lol We were in the stifling hot city earlier looking for new specs for me and he was gasping for a cold fizzy drink.

Perhaps Toby is hoping to find the cat again and looking forward to some more fuss!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jul 2010 09:05

Morning All,

Not raining today but a bit chilly. I have had no trouble sleeping as it is not hot here at night. Can remember as a child not being able to sleep for the heat. Then again it is always a few degrees cooler in the country than in a town.

Good luck today Sheila with your op. we are all thinking of you. Will be nice to hear from you as soon as you feel able to get back to us.

I had a strange phone call last night just about 8pm. It was supposed to be from a BT man who spoke with a very thick Indian voice I could hardy understand. Something about , was I at the pc now as there is a virus that your pc can't detect. I was cooking dinner at the time and told him I could'nt understand him and hung up. Two minutes later I got another call from a man with a slightly better voice to understand. He also asked me if I was at the pc now and I said no I was cooking the dinner. He said he was from BT and I told him my husband did all the stuff on the pc but he was out and he would have to ring back in half an hour and put the phone down. Told OH when he got in and he said did I think that BT would get in touch with all their customers about a thing like that or would they just send an email. Anyway the phone did'nt ring anymore and OH told me that if I got another call like that to tell them that he was a technition for McAfee'.

Jane Report 21 Jul 2010 09:50

Morning Mel
That call is a definite SCAM.I have had the same and Frank has too.Sometimes I may get 3 or 4 calls on the same day!!!!

It is a nice morning ,plenty of blue and plenty of cloud too.I think we had a little rain in the night.

This afternoon I will be going to visit Fitz's Mum in hospital. He is unable to see her today so I volunteered to go .She can be the most difficult lady and goodness knows what we will talk about after 5 or 10 minutes.I think she is due to go home soon.I have to take her a Banana and a Bounty Bar lol
James just shouted down the stairs "What's the time?" I said "Half past nine"
remember the rest of the rhyme?.........hang your knickers on the line.
When the policeman comes along, hurry up and put them on.
Must get on and sort a ton of clean washing out

Sounds like a SCAM!

Dont let whoever access your PC Mel you can't get them out and God knows what info they access.
Dial 1571, it will give you the number that phoned.
Report them to the POLICE
