Well welcome to thread anyway Piers....any childhood memories?

Piers

Piers Report 22 Oct 2010 21:50

Yes Jill, I can clearly remember my mother stating that 'manners maketh man'. That when someone has something to say, it is only polite to listen and offer a reply. To that end Jill - I rest my case.

Piers,

I would like to add my three pennies worth, I have been with the thread for over two years now. We may not reply to each other all the time. But we do a lot of Emails and PMs. and through that we have got to know one and other quite well. If I feel down though one thing or another I know I can always contact someone, who will be there to listern and offer help. We have become FRIENDS now, and I think I speak for all of us, that we are happy with that.
Regards to Childhood memories. I think a lot of the "GIRLS" are a lot younger than me, and they wouldn't understand a lot of things I would talk about. I can go back to evacuation in the war, and all that went with it. If as some, were born in the 50s that wouldn't be of interest to them. so I try to stick with things that we all enjoy.

The neighbour came in at teatime ,to show us his wifes scan. 12 week old BABY. First one I have ever seen. The detail is amazing. Don't know what it is yet.

With all respect Piers, If you do not like our thread for whatever reasons, you do not have to join, and we can do without you preaching to us about MANNERS.

Hello Frank,

You say you are all good friends, but I believe you are the chap who had a spat with one of the ladies - or am I mistaken ? I have read all the posts and consider it very clique. Sorry, but that's my opinion. I'm sure others must feel the same or else they would contribute - but they don't. I rest my case.

Frank

Frank Report 22 Oct 2010 22:11

Why don't you rest your case elsewhere.

Fiona Report 22 Oct 2010 22:23

Hi everyone
Good evening Piers , I too was brought up to know good & bad manners and have passed them on to my children and I even say to my 1 year old granddaughter thankyou when she hands me something, you cannot start to teach good maners to soon.

We all have become good friends and like Frank says we can always come on and tell all our worries & problems and there will always be some one who offers good and caring advice,

Frank it's wonderful what you can see from a baby scan. I remember when I first saw Sofia's first scans , this little baby with one hand up which looked like she was waving. actually we know now that she must have been asleep at the time the scan was done as she still lies with her right hand up when she is fast asleep on her back

I am off to bed now busy day tomorrow going to buy flooring for daughter no2 front bedroom, thats the last bit to do before they put the furniture back in , they have decided to make it into a study so daughter can do her uni work.
night night

Morning All,

We have just had a huge clap of thunder right over the bungalow. It shot all the electric out and both pc's off. Just as well we have backup boxes.

Had a nice lunch out yesterday in Bideford. Went to the Wi**y. One of my favorites.

Whilst writing this I had to answer the door!!

A big box arrived!!!!!!!

Thank you ALL so much for the beautiful flowers............

What really good friends I have.

Thankyou very very much they have brightened a dull day and I shall have to take a pic of them to show you all.

Thanks all Mel xx

In Reply to Your Pm Jill,

You say that you are one of the ' younger' members of this site. However, I'm not entirely sure as to why I need to know that - unless you feel that I'm looking for a relationship - which I'm not.

In Reply to Your Comments Fiona.

Good Manners must surely encompass more than just ''please and thank you''. Reading through this thread, I can see that there have been several bereavements. Some of those bereavements have involved young children. Is it therefore good manners to talk endlessly about Christmas, knowing that for some of your 'friends', this will be a very painful time. Personally, I do not think so.

There is much more I could say, but actually I have a life to lead . My purpose is not to 'wreck' your thread or to argue with any one of you. To return to my original point - this thread is entitled ''What kind of things do you remember from childhood' - but really it isn't about that at all. My perception is that the group is extremely 'clique' and at the end of the day, I'm entitled to my opinion.

Frank

Frank Report 23 Oct 2010 10:33

Piers, Why don't you SOD off and leave us friends to enjoy our lives, We don't need wind up merchants like you. !!! If you have a life to lead, how come you spent so much time reading through our thread. You must have one hell of a boring life.

Jane

Jane Report 23 Oct 2010 10:36

Morning to you all
I'm glad you like the flowers Mel.As you say they will brighten up a dull day there. It is bright here blue sky and cloud.I think we are forecast rain .

Anyway I think we all need to get back on track here .Frank enjoy your day at Rutland.Ask your son if he knows about The Clipsham Yew Trees.

My sister was telling yesterday that Finn (grandson) has just had his first parents evening. He is only 4.It made me chuckle to picture him sat there with his Mum and Dad .
I remember feeling physically sick at those evenings.Just the thought of what the teachers would say,and then the right rollicking I would get afterwards lolol

Jane

Jane Report 23 Oct 2010 10:39

Frank I think we should just ignore negative comments now,and get back to how we were.Happy Chappies!!

Piers

Piers Report 23 Oct 2010 10:51

If you have anything to say to me Mel - please address the issues here for 'all' to see. Thank you.

I think you should moderate you language Frank. Some might consider it 'abusive' and the thread would be in danger of being erased, once again. The reason I read through the entire thread, was to get my facts straight. Actually, I probably wouldn't have returned to the thread, but for the messages, which some of your group have been sending me.

This is my last post on this thread. However, it might interest you to know that I have received a number of messages which support my views entirely :)
