Same here at Sain*burys with the tins of chocs.....piled high. Your pork sounds nice Jane. By the way I think you need a 'taster' for the roast potato competition.....ME. lol

I'm with you on the garden Maureen. We managed to crawl out at 4 o clock and put about 8 rocks in and then came in!! lol I wanted to finish the side we were doing today, but feel so tired and lethargic. It's supposed to rain here tomorrow as well so no chance then. Perhaps we walked a bit too far along the canal and wore ourselves out. Saw a friendly swan this time, followed us for about 10 minutes along the bank edge. We came back through a spinney at the bottom of a playing field the garden of my old house backs onto. They have put a huge conservatory on the back of the house. I couldn't get over how big the trees I planted are now. The cheap little Tree of Heaven I bought in those little polythene bags from Wool*orths in the 70s is nearly as tall as the house!!

Mandy, I will try some silver spoon sugar next time. I don't think I've ever made blackberry jelly.

I purchased two boxes of chocs from a Christmas market they were a pound each and thought I had a real bargain the chocs on the front of the box looked scrumpy .I wrapped them on arrival at home
and gave them to each daughter for Christmas and when they opened them most of the contents were missing so back I went after Christmas ready to tell the stallman what I thought of him and he said oh my gosh I wondered where my sample chocolates had gone.

I thank you all for your messages you are all so lovely .
We are all in a state of shock not gone anywhere my ho keeps saying that poor lad
and my elder daughter cries all day on and off. Jess went off to Wales with my son
who will look after her until Matts funeral I have had phone calls from grown men
who were Matts friends from the choir and they have cried down the phone. April is with us
we will take to Wales shortly I told her daddy had gone to heaven and she is drawing him a
picture of Rashers so he will not be scared she said in heaven but its too early to know how she will
react later she adored her daddy .

On a more cheerful note there were some lovely accounts of the Eastend and the war on the threads earlier so well written I enjoyed reading them

David your a star everyone wishing you happy birthday and you did not tell anyone for a long time
that made me giggle and I need to at the moment nite everyonexxxx

Many thanks for the book Jane it arrived this morning

I've had DIL and the little ones here all day then son came when they had finished work and we had tea together .

Frank ,if i wrapped the chocolates up i would be for ever unwrapping them and doing them up again lol then suppose i forgot and gave them as a present and they opened a half eaten tin of choc's lol

Talking of Harvest Festival ,Jake brought a paper home from school today asking for things for the Harvest Festival Service , i remember taking veg in to the school when i was little , and always a bunch of Michaelmus Daisy's ,you don't see them in gardens as much now .

That sugar is good Ann ,mum also used to make Crab apple Jelly ,i remember all the stuff draining through muslin ,i think it was a long drawn out process to make that !

What a filthy morning.Hannah has gone off to London with my umbrella !!.Luckily it was only spitting when I was out with Chester ,but now I'm back it has just started to rain properly.I don't think I will be going far today.
While I was out I collect some conkers to put in the corners of the lounge and my bedroom to see if is true they keep spiders away!!.

Morning All,

Yes you've guessed it, it is pelting down here too.

Had a bit of bad luck last night. Got OH out of bed to lift mum up in her bed for me and he has injured his leg. Can hardly walk. He is going to the docs later this morning at 12.20. A friend is taking him forr me as I can't leave mum and he said he would drive himself but I was'nt happy about that. Rang a friend and she had a pair of crutches from when her hubby injured his leg so she brought them down and she is going to take him to the docs for me. She said she will bring down a cattle crate and lie him in that!! Ha Ha that made him laugh..........................

Ann thanks for the lovely pics. That ice house is in great condition. They have one over the big house but they knocked the top off when it was a school so knowone could get stuck in it. See what you mean about the swan showing his number 3XE.

Morning Jane, Sheila, and Frank.

Rotten day weather wise here , very Dull, and wet ,
I have just spent the last hour & a half compleatly emptying my fridge and cleaning it out, its a big one, we got it about 4 1/2 years ago when daughter no1 boyfriend (NOW SIL ) was staying with us , he was at uni in Glasgow and lived with us for 2 years.

The reason was yesterday morning when I opened the inside door to go into the back porch (where fridge, freezer and washing machine are kept) there was a terrible smell as if something really had gone bad, sour or something , I think it was MILk which had been spilt and not mopped up
anyway OH washed all the floor , but the smell was still there this morning so I thought I would wash the fridge out and see how that goes anyway it is clean and ready for the weekly shopping tonight.
But I am wacked all that bending up and down,

It's a good job there's no back exercise class for the next 2 weeks , I think I have done my exercise for this morning, I will be babysitting this afternoon when daughter goes to work and that will keep me on my toes to,

Daughter no 1 has found a local libary that does a sing & rhyme group for Sofia on a friday morning for 3/4 hour so that should be fun she really enjoys listening to the nursery rhymes on CD & DVD.

Morning Everyone.

Mel.... Your friend's comment about the crate, made me laugh too. What an image that conjured up lol
Sorry to hear about your poor OH.... Hope he recovers soon. Poor old you, so much on your plate. Hope you are ok.

Frank..... Ahhh, the girls loved the cat email.... Lots of giggles as he jumped around..... I loved it too.... Very cute.

Fiona..... That group for Sophia sounds lovely. Bet your daughter will enjoy it too. Our Library holds sessions and also 'story time' for young ones. Those sessions seem really popular.

Sheila.... My thoughts are with you. Stay strong.

Well, today my dad retires from work. My parents had planned a 2 month holiday to New Zealand to celebrate.... but cancelled to help my BIL. They will go next year instead. My mum has arranged a surprise party for friends and family for tomorrow. So I've had a clean up here and will be off shortly to help mum. It will be the first time BIL has been alone, but I'm sure he will be ok. We will be back on Sunday.
So... Have a lovely weekend everyone.
