Jane been trying to get on this flipping site all evening but its ike feeding time at the zoo on here today just about everybody wanting to use the computor and aol. I have to put up balloons for my daughters birthday tomorrow poor things been sat there doing that flipping brief. Loved that letter of Fritzs what a lovely story it would make can just amagine this poor young girl stuck in a pre war family very strict maybe she had this handsome guy
she was in love with and had a son and his family were rich and found out she was pregnant and wanted the child she was carrying maybe did everything to get the child.
This son was very special because she remembered his father and maybe had to give her lover up. The other siblings were jealous and out to harm the child she so adored. Then we have the Aunty a drunk reformed now teatotal but who may slip back into her old habit of drinking
i should amagine when drunk she was a nasty person to be avoided. Then her son grew up and had a child of his own who she adored because he reminded of the man she loved and wanted to do something for him and wanted to warn about the dangers in his family. well thats my version would make a lovely novel Jane but agree it would be interesting to investigate it. NIGHT or goodmorning all

Morning All,

I have been requested to go and help put up the big gazebo this morning at 11 pm.

It is a beautifull day with wall to wall sunshine.

One of my fairies fell off the pot she was sitting on yesterday and I only found her as it was getting dark. Her arm was broken of and all four fingers on that hand. Her flute was bent and broken. I found one finger tip and some chips from the back of the flute but have to seek out three more fingers. I was sooooo upset to find her in this state. They are clean breaks so I should be able to stick her back together, well most of it if I can find the rest among the leaves.

Jane Report 30 Aug 2010 10:16

Oh Mel the poor fairy!.What a pity.I hope you can find all the pieces. At least as you say clean breaks.I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
It is a lovely bright morning with sun and white clouds moving swiftly as it is windy.
Roast pork today ,but I have no pudding and that won't do ,as there will be complaints lol.So I will have to nip out and get something.
Canopy is back up on our gazebo again. The wind is coming from the North today so hopefully it will stay secure.
I am just being summoned into the garden .I think I am needed to hold a ladder!!!!!!!!!

Frank Report 30 Aug 2010 12:52

What a shame Mel, What will you use to stick them back together "FAIRY DUST" lol get the old Super gl#e out. It does most things. Thanks for all the new info. will pm you later.
We are still picking beans Jane. I leave them till the last minute then pick and into saucepan, can't get any fresher.
Out little cherry toms are comimg faster than we can eat them. larger ones still a bit green. Might try to do lawns later, still a bit wet.

Hope Ralph is going along O.K. David time is a good healer, and with all the modern technics and drugs, I am sure he will come along fine.

Love to all my "Girls" hope you have a good Bank Holiday.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Aug 2010 12:52

That's brilliant Mel.Do you need special glue to put her back together?

My next door neighbour(not with the chickens) got stuck on her flat roof early this morning. She climbed up somehow to try and fix a leak, and discovered a wasps nest at the same time.Luckily Colin ,on the other side other heard her calling and so he had to go round with a ladder lol.He said she had been up there for quite some time.Poor girl.Good job it wasn't raining lol
Chris has lopped a lot of height off the big bay tree this morning ,so I am trying to dry zillions of leafs. We took one branch to a friend so they can pick their own .I think I could set myself up in business lol

Jane

Jane Report 30 Aug 2010 12:58

Oh Frank we posted at the same time.I have beans coming out of my ears lol.I could eat them forever though .They are just so delicious.Neighbour has put an order in for some on Wednesday as theirs have nearly come to the end.
Our toms are very slow in turning red,but we are picking a few each day. They will most likely all ripen at the same time lol
I hope everyone is enjoying the decent weather today.

Afternoon all
Not a bank holiday here in Scotland but Oh has taken it as a holiday and we have spent all morning tidying the study from top to bottom, it was a real dumping ground for OH work papers, Sofia's buggy & toys plus high chair, clothes horse plus radiator dryers, and my craft needle work.
and a huge box of old vidios(sp , I have lost my spell check on here)
So OH has put all the non using items up in the loft and it is lovely to walk in there with the sun streaming in through the window's all fresh & dusted.

going to have my lunch outside still a cool wind so I don't know how long I'll last.

Afternoon all,
Oh Mel , what a shame about your lovely Fairy ,at least you've found all the fingers ,what can you do with the bent flute ?
Have you had the wind as strong today ? we have had trees blown down here in Norfolk and some villages have had their electric off for a while.
I've had a couple of my pots blown over too.

Jane ,that was fascinating reading ,would be good he could find out a bit more .
The other day i was reading on the tips board and some one had said that the next Census they had to fill in they were going to photocopy it and keep it with all their Family History papers ,i thought it a good idea ,i will do the same .

Son has just rung and said would we like to go to the coast with them ,so we're off about two ,they will pick us up as they have a seven seater car so no driving for us !!
I'll try and get you a CRAB Frank lol

Hi Everyone,

That is a fascinating letter Jane. It would seem the child is not blood related to 'uncle' as he says he loves her as much as IF she were his own flesh and blood. He also refers to her 'parents', not just 'parent'. His dipsomaniac wife would appear to be her real, blood related Aunt as he did not put that in quotation marks, so she would be a child of the Aunt's brother or sister.

For some reason the child was removed from her parents and he seems to have bought their silence over some matter in the family and intends to keep paying for their silence and their keeping away from the child after his death.

It is interesting that in relation to her natural family and the condition of continuing payment to them, he uses the term of them 'not interfering' with her. Does that mean 'meddling' in her life or, as my mum would have used the term years ago refering to child abuse? If he meant the latter, maybe he found the child was being abused by his wife's family so removed the child to live with him and his wife and was wealthy enough to buy silence on the matter. He may also have felt this necessary to prevent any scandal which could attach to himself by the fact of his marriage into the family?? Being very wealthy, such scandal could have affected his standing in the community and he would not want it to become public knowledge. Keeping the child away from her family before and after his death would prevent her ever knowing (consciously) about it (she was quite young) and may explain the aftermath of difficulties and problems she had later in life.

Just a theory, but it would be fascinating to find out what did in fact happen to cause him to take such costly action!!

I wouldn't mind seeing that recipe Mandy, but not saying I will make it lol.
I like cold runner beans mixed with a tin of chopped tomatoes and herbs and a little garlic. It doesn't sound tasty bit it is.I will see how I do with drying these Bay leafs and if they turn out ok and I have lots I can always send some to peeps. Will wait and see.
There are some big black clouds hanging around up there ,but I don't think we are forecast rain.
So you are off to the coast again Mandy.Lucky you.How nice not to have to drive as well. You can sit back and relax and enjoy the view.
Fiona, our loft is quite empty at the moment .We had a massive clear out a couple of years ago. There was so much stuff up there that would never be used again ,so we had a skip and it all went in that.
Mandy the wind has calmed down here now,but earlier it was quite strong.
Good job runner beans don't have the same effect as Baked Beans lol If they did no-one would want to enter our house !!!!!!

Jane Report 30 Aug 2010 13:39

Ann your thinking on that letter is interesting.I will get Fitz to read it .I will see him in the week as I have to keep an eye on his Mum next weekend while he and wife are away for a wedding.I need all instructions as to her food ,tablets etc.

Annx Report 30 Aug 2010 13:52

What a shame about your fairy Mel, but at least you have found the bits! Can I see a piccie of your fairy with a flute?

Yes, please put the recipe for runner bean pickle up Mandy. I have a feeling that if it stays mild all the tiny beans I have will soon be a glut. We have bowls of cherry tomatoes and a few boxes of them in the freezer. Lots of beetroot and carrots at the moment too.

We went for a walk around Thornton Reservoir yesterday and boy was it rough with all the wind blowing. It was much further than I remembered too, OH thinks it was about 2 miles and was I glad that the boathouse near the entrance had toilets when we got back!!! OH got accosted for a Severn Trent survey halfway around........must have taken about quarter of an hour. My poor old knees were a bit achey later, not used to that brisk walking, but they were much better this morning.

OH is at footie again at Corby, but I didn't go with him as I couldn't see anywhere nearby I fancied going while he was at the match.

Off to a garden centre now, then I am going to try the new hoover out on my hard floors!! I need more exitement in my life!! lol

Hi All-------That's a very good theory Ann----also cant you look up census for Uncle& Aunt see where they lived --how about the girls birth cert?
would give parents name --then see if she had any siblings you can trace?
She was a blood relie to Uncle&aunt that's for sure --You don't put money out like that for stranger's in those day's ??
Mell cant you fasing down the fairy's with some fishing line --you wouldn't see it

Mandy that's nice yes recipe for bean's
