Yes, there were quite a lot of those mis- pronounciations. Another: when my son was a little boy quite often had crumpets for breakfast. We would quite often hear his dad saying "Eat your crumshits boy" !!!! LOL

Off to the PO now to get things off in the post for Hannah(house stuff).I hope there isn't a huge queue as it will smell of all wet clothes lol
Maureen we often have Crumshits, although I haven't heard them called that lol. It's a Cracker!

Morning everyone,

Rice pudding will never be the same again in this house.................in future it is Rasputin!!!!! Ha ha ha. I absolutely love the name and shall adopt it....

Not raining today for a change, well not at the moment.

Jane loved the pic and am going to put it in the Threadateers Gallery. I must say how green the leaves are on your beans. Mine are all tatty and wind blown but they are in big bags out the front of the bungalow where the wind whistles past them at a great rate.

I had Hot Matches this week and there was my Cyril's name I had had trouble with on my tree. I have been trying to get in touch with one of his children for years and now I have!! I am soooo pleased and am hoping that I can get some more photos from her. She is a year older than me and has only just started her family tree. Am awaiting another reply hopefully with her email address.

She is the daughter of one of my gt grans children on my maternal side. So does that make her a third cousin???? I am hopeless as to how people are related to me!!!!!

Hi Just came on to say thank you for another photo Jane
peeping through the bushes you looked very cheeky. Catia
would like to thank you for the advice with the onion it really works popped out and got some early and cut them up with runny eyes but it does work so was able to finish my painting What happened to David is he ok I am on the way to finding myself a computor David so thank you and I hope Ralph is going along nicely. You and Catia have been very kind. It must be me but did not get the Rasputin joke and never heard of Crumshits not sure I like that name we called them Piklets wonder where that came from mind you was not very amused with my husbands rendering of one baked bean too long with Beryl I think
I appreciate more sane conversation. Going to meet my friend Annie her car is in the garage so driving her to the shops. Best of luck to Hannah Jane. Michelle my daughter is going for an interview in London next week and may have to commute to London its for a solictor in her bank more money which she needs her husbands not having a job only cleaning floors when he speaks so many languages nobody wants a intelligent Tunisian and he cleans floors in a hotel for two weeks only. bless him does not complain so far managed to find work . He had a job at the station cleaning but some lesbiens were shouting and playing up and he told them to go away and they said he had insulted them he ended up being arrested and taken to the police station for the night and lost his job even though later he was cleared of the charge the police came round to say the girls had confessed he did nothing but they still sacked him and he was so shocked about it all
he nearly left my daughter and went back to Tunisia. He must find 17hundred pound to stay here for ever and gets no dole money my daughter provides for him. I think he gave up such a lot to marry but he does not complain. Beryl the Peril was 1953 a comic strip by david Law who did the Denice the Menace strip haha Donnie finished 1993 and was took over by a guy called Steve Bright but finished forever in 1993 Beryl wore a red and black dress
Cannot say I remember her but mentioned her to Bill at the charity shop he popped in to see me needs me back next week and he told me all about Beryl the Peril. Having time away from my version of her bless her I laughed so much
yesterday at her and Bernie I had hic cups all day. Well it raining here again Surprise Surprise Mandy have you got rain such a shame if so with that lovely pool and for your beans Ann. bye have a nice day .

Morning everyone
Sunny so far, but there's still a cool wind.
woke this morning about 7.30 to the noise of the heating coming on, our heating is on a timer that only comes on if the tempreture drops outside so it must have been cold this morning, I do remember going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and feeling a bit chilly I was glad to get back into bed.
Had a busy day yesterday went for coffee with church friends then back at 12.30 so daughter no 1 could go and get her train into Glasgow , then babysat for an hour then daughter no 2 came down and we bathed Sofia. what a mess water every where she wants to stand up all the time, glad daughter no 2 was there I would have been a wreck . so we put the shower on in the end, she's not so keen on that, but enjoyed playing with an old plastic jug and beakers, drinking all the water with bubbles in.lol!!!
you don't need bath toys when you can play pouring (thats what my 2 called it) needed two of us to get her out of the bath she wriggles all the time and my old back was getting achey?
Had good fun that was the main thing.

I'm out again for coffee this afternoon( I asure you I do do stay in the house some days) meeting the ladies who I used to work with at the nursery, we havent got been able all 5 of us to managed to arrange a date when we were able to all be together and are now grabbing the chance before 2 ladies go back to work.

Jane your pic of the beans looks good. you look like your hiding in the jungle just waiting to jump out on someone.

off to do some ironing and hang out some washing

2 power cuts so far.I'm getting fed up resetting everything lol.I think if it goes off again I will just leave everything until later on.

I wondered why Chester wouldn't sit down on the passenger seat in the car earlier. He was standing hunched ,with his head hanging like he does if he is going to be sick.I have now discovered why he was like that.I had all my CD's under the towel that he sits on .Poor old boy must have found it too uncomfortable to sit lol

Afternoon to all my little "DUCKS". What a Bloo#y dat it is. It started raining on our way home yesterday and hasn't stopped since. Now very light rain and quite chilly. IOf it carries on I will put the heating on for a hour.

It's taken me ages to read all the postings, I don't know how you find so much to talk about.

Fiona, When Lewis was a baby,Ros would bath him in the kitchen sink. He loved it and still remembers it !!!! Now it's a job to get him in the shower, we don't have a bath anymore, just a "WETROOM" with shower and basin. He loves a bath,so difficult when he's with us. But when he's in there it's a job to get him out.

Jane, Hows Orton Road looking, I bought that house in 1964 for £2,500. with central heating and a nice size back garden. Sold it in 1970 for £8,000 approx. Bought Barton Road for £6,500. Had to do a lot to it. I think she got over £20,000. when she decided to sell it, and move on to Lodge Farm. I think she might still be there.

I've been out in the rain picking Runner beans for dinner, How fresh can that be.???? Roast lamb with all the trimmings for tonight.

Shelia I don't have your Email address. If you would like to PM me with it, I can send you all the jokes, I receive from other folks, some are quite funny. and some rude, if you don't mind that. ????

Shirl, Hows OG doing, you haven't mentioned him lately. Likewise Mel, is Mum alright. ???
Wheres David ???? I hope Ralth is still making progress with his post operation treatment. If I forget anyone, Sorry, Trust you are all well.

Afternoon All,

Isn't it wet everywhere! Yes nice healthy looking beans Jane......OH would have agreed with Fiona about the jungle......he would have asked if you were a Japanese sniper. lol You are almost a 'calendar girl' only we can see you have a top on. lol

Mandy, doing the loft is one of our winter jobs and I know we have a lot of stuff we kept just in case we needed it. I'm not looking forward to it.......there are a lot of miniscule clothes I used to be able to wear and should chuck out for the charity shop. Also OH is a bit sneaky at times when I'm not looking. 'Things' I want seem to end up in his pile for the tip!!!

I love the 'rasputin' Maureen........lol It's funny what accents can do to words. I remember years ago a German who was a friend of a friend asking me in a pub one night if I wanted a 'double chin' !! lol

Yes, where is David? I hope all is well with Ralph now he is home.

Better get on with some jobs now.......

Yes I'm so glad you started the thread too Mel. What did we all do before we came on here?? How exciting to have found a rellie who may be able to let you have photos. I still hope to find one of my many cousins who may have photos of my paternal grandparents.

Shirl, I have apple with my porridge at times and a bit of cinnamon on top......never thought to use apple juice though. I have it with different berries too......more like pudding then!!

Maureen

Maureen Report 26 Aug 2010 16:21

The funniest thing about rasputin and crumshits is they weren't meant to be funny, my ex couldn't see why we were laughing !!!!!!

I have learned now Mandy, I very rarely put things in the loft, as a just in case, it always ends up at the tip so it goes straight there now. I used to store everything up there and completey forgot I had it and go out and buy another anyway !!!!

Not sure if I'll be able to get over to son's house tomorrow with all this rain, probably be too muddy to do anything in the garden. Blow some of that warm sunshine this way Shirl. lol

Lucky you Mel, the one thing I wish I had were more photos of ancestors when you put a face to a name they become more real. Haven't done any more research for ages, might get back into it in the winter.

Hi Mel I have had a terrible day my car is not working a few yards down the road after driving through deep water because of a blocked drain husband is the down road looking at it. I think I may have found the computor just waiting for a confirmation from a man who does not live far away.Had a look yesterday and took a gent who knows about computors with me.
I do not want to go have found it nice to tell everyone about my essentric friend gets it off my chest otherwise I think about the crazy things she does and it all build up in my head. I think everyone is nice on here . I once at my brothers house for a week thought I was chatting to a women on the computor and at the end of the week I said
.I must love and leave you now and suddenly I was bombarded with messages please do not go my angel my
little rose petal my princess of the computor . I said Jo have you lost your marbles . I said I know we have chatted about everything from the kitchen sink to washing bras in detergant that does not give one rashes but I did explain I on the computor for a week. Then I got this message I am Jo a man not Jo a women. I nearly died I said how could you and he said wait a minute did I ever say I was Jo a women. Well thinking about it I do not think he did but what man talks about a rash on his chest . I thought it was a women and said do they still do lux or stergene try that for your chest I wash my bras in it used to get a rash in that area . Oh my felt so silly finding out it was a man he must have been having a good laugh. hope you continue

Did get the jokes after a while Maureen sometimes I read things wrong .Topsy I forgot to mention is a three legged cat. her leg had to be removed Beryls had it for sometime
and it still is going strong . I was shocked to read about the soldier who lost his legs in the war and had a crook car and someones stolen it. How could anyone do that
on the Midland news today and people are making donations to get him another one. I do not know more than that just turned the radio on when going to meet Annie my mate and my car suddenly stopped and would not go. I am looking forward to Franks jokes. I never get to know the end of jokes people tell me in the shop because someone else comes in and they go.
