I'm not keen on spiders, but will only shout for the calvery when they are the size of a 50p, if there little ones I take a newspaper & old glass and scoop it up and put it out first open door or window.
same with bee's or wasps, Both my girls have been stung before and when a wasp comes into view, it's murder in our back garden in the summer at meal times, both jump up & scream and run around waving arms, which is the worst thing to do.
SIL is the murder in our family. swats, stamps on , swears. and I stand and shout" don't kill it."

I can remember mum used to have a jam jar outside with a little jam round the top to attract the wasps and water in the bottom, so once they got in for the jam they then went down in the water and could'nt get out

We have been eating insects for centuries, I am sure they wont do us any harm.

Do you ever use Cocchinnel (sp) natural red food colouring - this is ground beetles!

Fiona

Fiona Report 10 May 2009 20:32

Weavells (wrong spelling)
I remember finding an old tin box in one of dads kitchen cupbords one day many years ago, and these llittle insects were crawling in a peice of old weetabix (Shudder!!!!!) I believe they live in all flourery food.

I was using flour for baking a Christmas cake one year and thankfully used the new flour first . When looked in the packet I had in the cupboard for a while the flour appeared to be "moving".

I emptied the packet onto a plate and stared and stared and it definately had something in it.

I rang up the brand in question, and they said that it would not be the flour but the paper it came in - the same things that are in old books - book worms! She said they would not harm me. Well they got put in the bin and each new bag of flour is promptly put into a plastic tupperware container.
