I was only in Nailsea for 3 years while OH did his GP training back in 1981/85

~ did OH train at Frenchay BRI or Southmead hospitals?

I was born in Southmead - many moons ago and well before your OH was training lol

I am at the computer in my small front bedroom with a jumper on and the fan heater running. the sun has gone and there's a cold wind outside, even spoke nicely to OH and asked him to fetch the washing in.did'nt want tto go out in that cold wind. I don't want to put central heating on gets to hot before bed time and I don't like a warm bedroom , you can't cool the feet when the air is warm

I think we are just To Hot to Handle lol

Our patient had died during the night, and cant remember if a post-mortem was needed, one reason why patients were kept in mortuary. Other reason was not to call out a funeral director in the night, could be moved early morning.

Helen, The General, ooh forgot about that one shame on me and me in the NHS too ! Yes it is, but I think it specialises in the elderly (geriactric). I think I had my tonsils out there when I was 7 years of age, but dont quote me on it lol

Fiona - I agree, its lovely having the central heating on, but as you say its then too hot in the bedroom, also my bedroom has all the pipes and hot water tank in my room! No wonder i have hot feet lol. I am sat now with my fleece on and the central heating off and am nice and cosy at the moment.

Me thinkest the poor lady was left in the mortuary but not obviously refrigerated, unless they put ice around her. We might never know lol

Evening Ladies, i see we're back to the dead and dieing again!

Where I work if someone dies and it's an unexpected death (ie) not seen by a doctor within the last 48 hours then we are not to touch them, as I believe coroner has to be informed too. we ring the doctor on call and family...not sure in what order, but if it's an expected death, then we are to change nightie/pj's etc. and give a little wash. It has never happened to me as yet, i've only work in the care sector as relief for a year or so, I don't think we have to if we don't feel we can...one of those things I guess that you don't know how you'll be until it happens.

I was with my dad when he passed away as I cared for him at home here with us, but it's totally different I think.

Thinking about it, yes we have to ring the on call doctor first...god just imagine telling the family that their loved one has died and infact they hadn't.......oh awful!

Continuing on this death subject, I want to be cremated, you will laugh when you hear this but I get claustiphobic (spelling wrong )and the thought of being in a box and buried under ground scares the life out of me !!!!!LOL, I bet your all thinking You will be dead anyway Fiona,

Staying on the subject of death .I have had to deal with many people who have died ,and yet when my Dad died (I was with him,with my sister and Mum)I could not go back in the room to see him again.

I won't even start on the stories of the dead (when I was nursing) lol
On that lovely note I have just rubbed cream into my manky toenails,and am just going to check on how the joint of beef is defrosting for tomorrow.I HAVE WASHED MY HANDS.

Am I making this up or not?, was there something about a bell being tide to a peice of string and if the corpse woke up in the coffin they could ring it to let people know they were alive. Please tell me someone if I'm right or wrong. I may have got the story muddle up.

I want to be buried, the thought of being burnt is awful! We are all so different and it makes for intersting reading doesn't it. When dad died it was 3.15 in the afternoon and the undertakers came at 8.30 that evening, that's got to be the worst time for us, it was dreadful truly dreadful. We felt that he was gone forever, as he looked so peaceful and was in his own bed. His GP came along at around 6pm and spoke about him, and said what a lovely man he was. it was like dad was still here with us. When we went to the Chapel of Rest, I had to go out after a while, as i think seeing him in his coffin that's when it really hit me.

AB i'm sure some poor buggers have been buried alive, but with embalming etc. nowadays I'm sure people are dead...I'll ask to be knifed before they bung me in the hole!!

EDIT: well, i couldn't ask as I'll be dead, but I'll ask before i go!!
