We live in a valley where there is widespread flooding every year as the ri ver bursts it's banks ,we've been lucky, always lived higher than the waterline ,could have been so different though.4 years ago we had an offer accepted on a house near the river but the next day the owner took it back off the market .We were livid at the time but the following January the house flooded so badly it had to be demolished and it's taken 'til last month to have the rebuild completed .Though I have to admit the owner has "won a watch" as the've made a fantastic job of it.Still we think we had a very lucky escape as the owner was homeless for over 31/2 years,we must have a guardian angel.

When my niece and sisters families had no water in the Tewkesbury Cheltenham floods they found it difficult getting water from the bowsers in the streets ,as they were always empty.
Their water was off for about 3 weeks if I remember, and so I told my sister to drive up to me and get bottled(that had sold out there too).I did a big trip to Aldi and Tesco and filled my car with bottled water for them.I don't know how they coped for so long without water. They brought all their washing here to be done too.I had to buy Pampers too for my G Nephew as they were in short supply.
My niece, ended up on anti depressants after those floods. As did her OH who lost his work van and all his tools .They will be reminded now of the terrible time they had.

It is quite possible there is a shortage of some foods as deliverys will be difficult. Have been in that situation in the days before domestic freezers, so you couldnt stockpile. Mind you, if electrics are out, most of the stored food will be unsafe anyway. We had enterprising young men delivering basics by boat through the bedroom windows, but I cant remeber what we did with nappies and cat litter! Pushed to the empty corners of my mind I expect!

I will never eat chocolate and caramel yummy biscuit thingies late at night.I could not get to sleep ,my heart was racing and I was really fidgity. At midnight I had had enough of tossing and turning and leg twitching, and had a sleeping tablet.Would it have been the caffeine or something?Think I dropped off sometime after 1am.

The Mystery of The Disappearing Magnet ...........I read an article on my ladycare magnet in a magazine last week and decided to give it a second chance,so for the past week I have been religiously wearing it to bed, slipping the large part into my pants and the little part to the outside to hold it secure.I can't honestly say I've found any improvement, but a week isn't along time so I will persevere. If I can find the little part that attaches to the outside of underwear,I put it in place before going to bed last night and when I got up this morning it was GONE.I've searched the bed and the room, moved furniture checked the hallway and bathroom and it has disappeared completely off the face of the earth or at least out of my home .Anyone have any ideas ?Or is there a spirit about who likes blue magnets??

Hi all, just a quick visit as i worked last night and am in again tonight.

I sent me cheque off to GR and they still have not updated my membership, so it runs out today at midnight. Will probably be okay...but if you don't see me up on the boards for a while you'll know I'm having problems...take care all of you!

Pam.

What difference does it make if the prospective parent was adopted? Surely that must prove the success of adoption, that she wants to do it too. These authorities need more sense. Can she not appeal, get her local MP involved, Anything to save that poor little boy.

The sounds I get change,at the moment it a high pitched one .I am always waggling my finger in that ear to see if I can shift it lol.I had my hearing tested and a MRI scan done and all was clear.I find if I have the TV or radio on during the day I don't notice it so much.
It's when I wake in the night and wake OH to say can you hear that???? is so annoying for him more than me.He just says go back to sleep it's just your B****y ear lol

Jane

Jane Report 21 Nov 2009 19:53

Do any of you have Tinnitus? I have it in one ear.Have heard that the change can have something to do with it.It is in the night I find it a real B****r.I think I hear things, like the tumble dryer or the heating still going.Am always getting up just to check things lol

Have a great evening tonight.Wish I was 40 again.I seem to remember it's a nice age to be !!!

Jane

Jane Report 21 Nov 2009 16:10

OH had a memory block earlier .He said "I was just going to tell you something important, and now it's gone" lolI stood and waited, but no I didn't come,so I went off and sat down.Few minutes later I heard "Oh thats it".It really wasn't that important at all,but it was nice to see that it's not just me LOL
I often find myself standing in the middle of a room wondering what I had gone in there for!!
