Think that Tina is right with regard to keeping the deseased in the mortuary. At the undertakers they have a freezer and I believe even when someone has been embalmed and put into their coffin they are still kept in the freezer part. If the relatives want to view their loved ones you normally ring in advance (atleast an hour) so the undertakers can get them out and ready for the viewing. Very sad isn't it, and I found that period between my loved one dieing and being buried the worst.

Fiona I think when they know family want to see their loved ones they will then move them to the Chapel of Rest.Your Mum would not have been in the Chapel of rest for 10 days.I may be totally wrong here.I just think that the body has to be kept cold and will just be in the chapel of rest for a certain amount of time for last respects to be paid.
If anyone else knows the answer I would be interested to know.

Evening Ladies, hope you're all okay and not too warm!

Glad you got the hang of the little symbols Fiona, they're good fun and you can play around with them to your hearts content!

Fiona, I may be wrong but are not all bodies kept in the mortuary unless someone goes to visit the deceased and then they are taken to the chapel of rest? I dont know about these things so may be totally wrong.

Perhaps someone could enlighten both Fiona and myself.

Glad to know the story of the 20st lady had a decent ending,
I have a question to ask you nurses out there , my mum died in 1999 on New years eve at 4.00 in the morning in Hospital. How long would her body have lain in the mortuary before she was taken to the chaple of rest. unfortunatly with it being a holiday period we were unable to bury her untill
the 10th January 2000, I remember only visiting her once during that time at the chaple of rest.
I don't get upset thinking about it 10 years is a long time ago

Tina ,I lost count last night how many times I chucked the duvet over OH and slung legs out the side of the bed.The first time was 12.30......I thought I had been asleep for hours lol.OH gets up at 6.30,it wakes me and then I get that first flush.I say will you open the window 'cos it's hot in here. His answer being "No I b****y well wont ,its freezing, you say this every morning" LOL

They could earn themselves some money, renting out frozen rooms for ladies of a certain age lol.

Actually, didn't Joanna Lumley stay at an ice hotel over in Finland. See they have got it right lol.

I must say I have started throwing the duvet off and on, so its getting warmer of late in the evenings. So time to break out the sheet and blankets, nice and cool - mmmmm sheer bliss!

Honestly, we ladies have no dignity sometimes when alive and then when we have snuffed it have none at all ! I had better write a letter to Birds Eye or Findus and get me a room booked in one of their storage units amongst the frozen peas lol

Maybe Jean had to put the lady in on her side .The mind boggles.

Jean (Monmouth) Report 1 May 2009 19:42

We had to leave our 20 stone patient in the lobby tothe mortuary for the day staff to sort out, we had left the ward long enough as it was!. I believe she was taken to a chapel of rest. Moral, watch your weight!

OK, am up to speed now lol.

Definately glad the title is not old boilers, I am defo not an old boiler, washer or wringer! lol

Hypermobility syndrome - I got it too. I was "double jointed" Could do the splits no probs and touch my toes and beyond, would not try doing the splits would need Sparrows crane hire to lift me up, and gawd knows what would happen to me hip joints I think they would just go *ping* and pop out - ooh err what a gruesome thought, plus it would be a bit of a strain on the old T*nas! pmsl , oops sorry lol

Hey Jean - whatever happened to the 20st lady - being a ever so slightly on the "tipping over of the scales" type lady, want to know what happened lol.

Two new ladieeees as well have joined in - a warm welcome from me.

I have been wondering if the fact that I seem to be sensitive to more things, like hayfever type things, smells etc has anything to do with the change as I have only had these problems for the last few years.
